We’re wrapping up our final day in Hilton Head…one last bike ride for Di, and a visit to the beach together. Despite some very poorly played holes that I would’ve liked a ‘redo’ on, we’ve enjoyed three more golf rounds: Golden Bear, and two Palmetto Dunes courses (Robert Trent Jones and Arthur Hills). The last two went straight to my favourites list. Arthur Hills, in particular, was stunning.
We’ve also been to Savannah, which is a really pretty town (nice day!)…

…and (not a nice day!) experienced our first tornado preparation. Although the resort staff assured us that–should the alarm system trigger and we would need to find shelter–we could enjoy ‘sweet tea’ in the clubhouse. I would’ve needed something much stronger than sweet tea, given the AccuWeather forecast:

Luckily, it was just ALOT of rain, but caused a small leak in one of the windows. So, during the storm’s darkest skies and heaviest rain, E gamely put on his bathing suit and climbed up to the roof to clear out an eavestrough. Very entertaining.
On a more pleasant day, we celebrated E’s birthday with dinner at the Quarterdeck Restaurant in Harbour Town. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the water, and, appropriately for the birthday guy, a view of the Harbour Town Golf Links in the background.

All-in-all, not much to talk about. It’s been a great laid-back time here, a good start to the summer. Tomorrow, we start our trek toward Cape Hatteras, and plan to arrive on Monday afternoon.
