Di: Back at the Ritz, RV Style

So, after much enjoying our few days in Hilton Head last year, we decided to make it our primary destination for this year’s trip. I refer to our location as the Ritz because it really is a resort-style location, complete with pool, tikki bar, and restaurants. We’re pretty comfortable for our 3-week stay.

There’s not much (thankfully) to report about the trip down. E, once again did a great job of driving. As navigator, I made one ‘boo-boo’. We inadvertently detoured off the highway, and had to find a quick turnaround. I saw a school, and suggested that as a turnaround point. I assumed that it would accommodate larger vehicles, such as school buses. True, however, this particular school was designed **only** for school buses. With a total vehicle length of approx. 46 feet, our unit is “significantly larger than a school bus” as E pointed out (patiently, but with a pained smile) once we had maneuvered our way back to the highway.

We’ve played 7 of our planned 10 golf rounds. I really, really love the courses here. For my golfing pals, this should tell you the direction my handicap is going😊 . In order played, courses are:

  • Port Royal Plantation, Robber’s Row course
  • Golden Bear Golf Club
  • Old South Golf Links
  • Palmetto Dunes Club, Fazio course
  • Hilton Head National Golf Course
  • Dolphin Head Golf Club
  • Bear Creek Golf Club

We’ve also been to Charleston for a two-day outing. This is a beautiful, and very walkable city….and we did. Walk. Lots. We checked out Fort Sumter (first shots fired to kick off the Civil War), the Slave Mart Museum, and loads of beautiful homes on tree-lined streets. (I will never tire of seeing Spanish Moss hanging from trees).

Lots of biking for me out-and-about Bluffton and area. It’s pretty flat here, but the area is pretty and the roads quiet to Bluffton and back. E and I did take the bikes and spent a few hours riding around Hilton Head Island, checking out Harbour Town (nice lighthouse!), and the beaches at Sea Pines.

Other than all of that, life is good on the road., with lots of seafood, golf, pool time, and biking with my best pal.

-Stay posted,
