Diane: Memphis — All Elvis

With only one day in Memphis, we headed out early for the Sun Studio tour, and then spent some time on Beale Street before heading to Graceland.

Elvis and so many great performers had their start at Sun Studios. It’s still a working studio, and our guide, who is also a session musician, had good stories to share about the celebrities he’s worked with here. We had some fun in the studio too:

At Graceland, the museums are extensive! It was fun to see the jets and cars, and the massive displays of Elvis memorabilia. Who knew there was so much you could do with a Napoleon collar?

And, of course, Graceland itself was pretty interesting. The audio tour had many features where Lisa Marie described life at home.

Home’ was more conservative than might be thought given his penchant for bling.

The final stop was the Meditation Garden, which was quite moving, as not only Elvis, but his parents, brother, daughter and grandson now rest.
