Sunny, warm(ish), and dry Hilton Head. Love it.
We arrived at the Hilton Head National RV Resort and Cottages yesterday, and after setting up, headed over to Billy Mac’s Grill to enjoy beverages and the Masters on the big screen with other fans. Watching all the good swings by the pros must’ve helped me this morning as I had a decent-for-the-first-round-of-the-year golf game at the resort course.
So, I don’t want to belabour difficulties, but getting here presented some challenges. I was prepared for the long first leg needed to get to our first major destination here at Hilton Head. What I didn’t anticipate was (in no particular order of frustration): a monumental RV spring cleaning effort (started after our 7-hour drive on the first day), the inexplicably slow I-95 (adding three hours to one of our drives), the low-hanging hydro wires at one particular diesel station (requiring a special kind of teamwork to back the rig up), the problematic activation of an eSim card on the iPhones (lots and lots of time with T-Mobile customer service via a pricey Bell plan), and the apparent lack of any streaming service anywhere to watch Gushue’s Canadian team in the Mens’ World Curling finals (just disappointing). I’d like to think I would’ve kept a better perspective on all of this, except the 48 hours of incessant, pounding rain in Raleigh provided an exhausting backdrop. 🙂
(There was a highlight in Raleigh. Dinner at the Angus Barn was fantastic. The Chess Pie lived up to its reviews. I also scored two coffee mugs that night, which was a key purchase as they were the only ‘essential’ item I forgot to bring along.)
Anyway, all that is behind us. I’m thankful that functionally, all went off without a hitch. The oven, range, fridge, fireplace and hot water heater all fired up without any issues. Up next….how does the solar system work? 🙂
