On Saturday morning, we left Bar Harbor, crossed back into Canada and headed for Saint John. We had a great visit with friends Kim and Jeff (who recently published his first novel, The Long Train Home). They gave us a tour of the downtown waterfront and nearby beach, and we were lucky to have a view of the harvest moon over the harbour from their home.
Pics are compliments of Kim, photographer extraordinaire.

Bonus content: Jeff, a prof at UNB, had kindly arranged for us to leave the RV at the university while we spent the night in their home. We planned to meet Jeff in the university parking lot. Unfortunately, we missed the last turn and headed toward the hospital instead. Little did we know, but Jeff was driving behind us, vigorously trying to wave us down. As we approached the hospital–with the road getting narrower and with fewer exit options–I noted that the ER door overhang did not look high enough for us to pull through. E spied a curve in the road behind a concrete abutment, and was quite confident that it would provide an exit back to the main road. As we pulled forward, we quickly saw this curve in the road went nowhere, except to the garage door for underground parking. Somehow, E managed to pull us out of a tight spot (with good advice from Jeff), but we provided much amusement for all the patients and visitors sitting outside enjoying the day. To add to our ‘lessons learned’: If you don’t know what’s just around the corner, stop driving.
