E – A really nice day in Bar Harbor and Spectacular ride in Acadia National Park but….

I am going to get a new f*@*##$& bike. As some of you know I am not entirely fond of the current hybrid I have..to put it mildly. I am kinda wishing it got completely totalled when it fell of the rack before we left. The frame is too heavy and the tires are great for gravel…not so good on pavement…I will be getting a road bike for future trips😄

Now that that is out of the way let me say the ride in the park yesterday was nothing short of spectacular. It is one of the top scenic road routes in all the US.

I did have a moment part way through the ride. Shortly after a map check stop we were heading downhill. I was moving at quite a clip and thought I hadn’t resumed my Strava app. I pulled out my phone…one hand on the phone pressing madly and the other on the handle bar and half an eye on the road…luckily no cars…wonder what Di was thinking riding behind me😄.

A few pics from the ride.

Nice view.
So beautiful.
What a day!….
….except for that bike😝

Thought I would share a couple of our set up at Mt. Narrows about 15 minutes from the park and Bar Harbor.

Today we had a great afternoon in Bar Harbor…I really love this town. Great vibe to the place…lots of cool shops…we finished the day with a great dinner at the Bar Harbor Inn, overlooking the Harbor. I believe Di is going to do a more in depth Bar Harbor post tomorrow with pics.

Di playing to the crowd

There was a tone of sadness later today with the passing of Queen Elizabeth. It conjured up memories for me of the playing of God Save the Queen along with the national anthem before classes in public school. I also have memories of my mom being an enthusiastic follower and supporter of anything monarchy related. To me, the Queen exuded elegance, grace, compassion and strength of character…although not an elected leader but one who was looked upon for leadership….with her passing it made me think how sorely lacking those characteristics seem to be today in those we look upon to lead.

  3. Sadly, We have a story or two about bikes on bike racks too… (unpleasant experiences). The most recent was on our last drive to Cape Breton …one bike needed a new tire upon our arrival and the chest of drawers in the back of our SUV didn’t make that drive any easier…. However, both bikes and chest of drawers are now out there to stay!!

Love reading your blog. Thanks for including me. Enjoy.
